Made in Baguio

Hi Readers!

When you say summer and vacation some think of going to the beach and some of you might also think going to the summer capital of the Philippines the Baguio City. My mom went to Baguio last March 11 to 14, 2011. I wrote this blog for my international readers; for them to know what we have here in the Philippines. If you want to visit the Philippines, one place I recommend to you is Baguio City. From Manila to Baguio travel time about 6 1/2 hour ( depend on the travel time and the traffic). Landmark you can visit in Baguio: 1.) Mines View Park 2. Burnham Park 3. The Mansion 4. BenCab Museum and lot more..(If you want to know more attraction in Baguio click here)

Some of product's made in Baguio (check pictures below)
1. Fresh Strawberry 2. Good Shepperd Ube Jam 3. Strawberry Jam 4. Mini Plants
 5. Woven coin purse 6. Raisin Bread of Baguio Country Club 7. Woven Fabrics
Strawberry - the heart shape fruit. This fruit can also be use for fruit shake, in cake and other desserts. Strawberries grow in cool temperature like in Baguio.
Good Shepherd Ube Jam is one of my favorite Baguio product not only it super yummy and milky taste but buyer can also help one student of Cordillera Youth  to sent them to school check the top cap of the bottle labeled as: " You help send us through college, each time you buy our products".
Raisin Bread is best with Milo :)
 oh I am craving now!

Other products made in Baguio are peanut brittle, some special pastries and goodies, Silver Jewelries, shawls, bonnets and some man made art display like wood statues and figurines.

Readers, What product of Baguio do you like?

Chillin' Chillz

Hi Readers!

The heat is on! We can now feel the summer, some maybe planning for an out-of-town vacation or maybe for other is an outdoor activities. And when we say summer or hot days, what come's to our mind is cold drinks or refreshment. So for the month of April to May some of my blogs discuss about kind of refreshment, beverage, shake, ice cream , yogurt or anything that will satisfied our thirst and craving for cold food or drinks.

It's already end of March, so now I'll post the first product for refreshment the Chillz from Mini Stop. Chillz is a non-carbonated shake (unlike the other cold drinks which made up of soda) The refreshing drink makes for a better alternative to carbonated sodas that can have harmful effects when taken excessively. The thirst-quenching shake comes in delicious flavors everyone will love Coffee Bliss captures, Melon Lush and Strawberry Banana flavor (just check Mini Stop store near you for the available flavors).

In 16 oz Strawberry Banana flavor Chillz

What I like about this refreshment : This is very affordable. Chillz available in 12oz (cost P25.00) and 16oz (cost P35.00). I choose Chillz in strawberry banana flavor, yes it taste like the combination of the 2 fruits the strawberry and banana flavor.

What I don't like was when the ice melt, drinks dilute and loses the flavor. (flavor change to more of watery taste).

Readers, what is your favorite Chillz flavor?

Goodbye Liz Taylor (A tribute to one of the most beautiful woman)

Hi Readers!

This morning I heard this news about the death of one of the most beautiful woman madame Elizabeth Rosemond "Liz" Taylor. I know hollywood now is graving for her death and I believe not only the hollywood but also the fashion and beauty industry, also some of the parents who grow up watching her movies (specially some of mom's). Here are some biography of Liz Taylor which I get from wikipedia:

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond "Liz" Taylor, DBE (February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011) was an English-born American actress. Beginning as a child star then throughout her adulthood, she became known for her acting talent, glamour and beauty; as well as a much publicized private life, which included eight marriages, several near-death experiences, and decades spent as a social activist, championing the cause of AIDS awareness, research and cure. Taylor, a two-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, was considered one of the great screen actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age. The American Film Institute named Taylor seventh on its Female Legends list.

(For read more info about her click here)

According to the news Liz Taylor died due to congestive heart failure, she passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in the early hours of Wednesday morning with her children by her side. Taylor's death comes six weeks after she was hospitalized because of her ill health.

My favorite quotes of Elizabeth Taylor

"I feel very adventurous. There are so many doors to be opened, and I'm not afraid to look behind them" - Elizabeth Taylor

"I have a woman's body and a child's emotions."- Elizabeth Taylor

My New Hair cut

Hi Readers!

This is late blog post but I just want to share my new haircut to you my dear readers. I notice my hair was too long, it almost reach my butt and I have a hard time maintaining it.I always run out of a bottle of shampoo and conditioner (I can consume 1 bottle of shampoo in 1 week). My last visit to my favorite salon was last May 2010, so last monday I went to my favorite hairdresser Gigi of Basic Exxence here in Makati. I asked her to trim my hair up to 6 inches long and a side bangs (just check the picture below).
Gigi was my hair dresser since college day (I have this in mind that if other people cut my hair I don't feel fulfilled or "feeling ko hindi ako maganda sa gupit" (I feel not beautiful with the cut)ha!ha!ha!. Gigi was a good hair dresser that's why lot of her customer keep on coming back. The Basic Exxence Salon also offer cheaper price in haircut, they also have services like rebonding that price start at 2,000 pesos (depend on the length of hair), hair color and other salon services.

So Readers, When was the last time you visit your favorite salon?

Earthquake hit Japan with magnitude of 8.8 and a Prayer for Japan

Hi Readers!

This afternoon I was really shock with this news, Japan was hit by earthquake with magnitude of 8.8 (wow that was really strong) I was checking my facebook and twitter account when all the trending was all about the earthquake. I check CNN and BBC website (I always check on this site when I heard news from around the world they are best resources.) When I saw the video the first thing came out to my mind was "Is this really the sign of the end of the world?" When you see the video it was like a huge flood that covering the entire city or devastating the whole place.

Earthquake in Japan

Japan's Earthquake inside a grocery

All we can do now is to pray..Please pray for the safeness of all the people in Japan...

Let us pray:

Lord our father,
In faith we acknowledge your paternal care over us, your sons, daughters and children. In hope we trust in your divine providence of giving wisdom and courage to those victim of the earthquake, as they face the challenges in life. In love they invoke your help and guidance during these difficult days of death and destruction in the country of Japan.
The prayer of repentance for calling upon you when they are in need and desperation but forgetting you in favourable times and pleasing occasions.
Grant eternal peace to those who lost their lives. Embrace the children who died in their innocence. Help those who are hurt and cure those who are sick.
Encourage those who suffer the destruction of their homes and properties, and to once again stand up and rebuild their future.
Bless all those who extend their helping hands to those in need of food, shelter and clothing, who share their time, talents and resources with others.
Spare us please from other natural disasters and devastations if this be according to Your will and for our own spiritual good and growth.
Amen.

International Womens Day

Hi Readers!

This blog post is dedicated to all the women in the world, today is the celebration of 100th International Womens Day (March 08, 2011). Brief history, In 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. A woman named a Clara Zetkin (Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) tabled the idea of an International Women's Day. She proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day - a Women's Day - to press for their demands. The conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, representing unions, socialist parties, working women's clubs, and including the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament, greeted Zetkin's suggestion with unanimous approval and thus International Women's Day was the result. Following the decision agreed at Copenhagen in 1911, International Women's Day (IWD) was honoured the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination.  Today it is a special celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday.

So ladies let celebrate being a woman! Today I believe in our society it is less discriminating of gender. We can enjoy the equal opportunity either you were a man or a woman, not unlike before's tradition women stayed at home just to be a house keeper today we can make our own income or work as same as job of a man. In Philippines were proud to have 2 women president, the late President Corazon "Cory" Aquino and the former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. We also have so many successful women in society and I can't name them all (this blog will be longer). Some of statistic according to the local news there were more working womens than man in our country.

A message for International Womens Day

Last Song syndrome- In My Dream

Hi Readers!

My Last song syndrome...I watch "Going bulilit" in a local channel yesterday and this song keep playing in my mind until this morning...Nice song, I felt In Love again!!

In Dream by Reo Speedwagon

There was a time some time ago
When every sunrise meant a sunny day, oh a sunny day
But now when the morning light shines in
It only disturbs the dreamland where I lay, oh where I lay
I used to thank the lord when I'd wake
For life and love and the golden sky above me
But now I pray the stars will go on shinin'
You see in my dreams you love me

Daybreak is a joyful time
Just listen to the songbird harmonies, oh the harmonies
But, I wish the dawn would never come
I wish there was silence in the trees, oh the trees
If only I could stay asleep
At least I could pretend you're thinkin' of me
'Cause nighttime is the one time I am happy
You see in my dreams

We climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us
We are lost in time
And I don't know really what it means
All I know is that you love me
In my dreams

I keep hopin' one day I'll awaken
And somehow she'll be lying by my side
And as I wonder if the dawn is really breakin'
She touches me and suddenly I'm alive

And, we climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us
We are lost in time
And I don't know really what it means
All I know is that you love me
In my dreams

And we climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us
We are lost in time
And I don't know really what it means
All I know is that you love me
In my dreams oh oh oh oh in
In my dreams

Mara Clara Fever!

Hi Readers!

Do you watch Telenovela? After watching news at night my mom is tune in and watch telenovela ( I don't have any choice but to watch too, or else if I switch with other channel that's the start of little argument! dah!) My mom love to watch this little mermaid girl  then followed with Mara Clara (a remake of t.v. drama of 90's which is originally played by Filipina actresses like Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes) Mara Clara today was played by young actress Kathryn Bernardo (played Mara character) and Julia Montes (played Clara character). This telenovela was sure hits (since before its first shown in 90's that really lasted for years,  until now 2011 many audience followed the sequences of the story) .

"Alvira and Gary are a couple, but she breaks up with him, for a scholarship to America. Gary becomes heartbroken, and falls in love with Alvira's poor friend, Susan, in the thought that she may not return, but it was short lived. Upon Alvira's arrival after years of studying abroad, all his feelings for her came back and he sought to win her back, but was heartbroken to find out she's engaged to a wealthy businessman, Amante Del Valle. He became drunk with anger and impregnated Susan on a one-night stand. Lupe, Gary's mother, blamed Susan for everything, insisting she seduced him from getting back with Alvira. Alvira and Amante got married, with Gary's anger turning to total obsession for Alvira. Months passed, Susan and Alvira gave birth on the same date and hospital. Gary planned his revenge, and commands Karlo to kidnap Alvira's baby. He rejected at first, but a debt owed made him do otherwise. He became afraid when Gary was caught by the police and sent to jail, accidentally switching Alvira's baby and Susan's baby. Susan's daughter, was brought up to the Del Valles and named Clara and Alvira's baby, brought to the Davids was named Mara."

Mara Clara fever! A little girl is immersed in a remake of
"Mara Clara" and sobs when she thinks that Mara has died.

And this is my little craziness, I took picture of my self to be look-a-like of
Mara and Clara and post this to my Facebook account. ha!ha!ha!
